It is a very sad fact that as many as 35,000 men are diagnosed every year in this country with prostate cancer and over 10,000 die from the disease, about the same number of deaths as women from breast cancer. But prostate cancer research receives only 25% of the funding spent on research into breast cancer in women. There is a diagnostic test available to screen for prostate cancer but currently only 8% of men request this potentially life-saving test.
To help raise much needed funds for research and prostate cancer treatment at the Bristol Urological Institute based at Southmead Hospital, Rotary in Bristol, together with the Hospital's official charity, organise 'Run for the Future' as an annual sponsored event for the whole family around Bristol Downs.
Participants can choose to either walk, jog or run around the course.
Run for the Future 2012 will take place on Sunday 16th September at 12 noon on Bristol's Durdham Downs.
If you would like to take part and help us raise even more money to save men's lives you can register here or call us on 0117 323 6328.
